Since all the actual results have been posted by Gill Wilson already, this is a more personal report of the show.Well what a funny day! Quite a few Abys present, which was good, but horrendous noise problems. I don''t know who the deep-voiced bloke who does the announcements is, but the cats hated him booming out over them. It is the same every year, but compounded this year by the screeching and crackling at full volume near the start of the show, later attributed to a clash of frequencies. My Ashanti was wound up a treat by it.
Unfortunately, I was involved in the ACA Aby presentation at about 10:30 when Ashanti was being judged, so I got the feedback from "er indoors" afterwards -he was fine until the small child started to create, then he proved very hard to handle. He got his CC in the pre-Champ Male Usual class, but not the BOB, so that was the end of his day!
The ACA presentation was too early at 10:30 (alphabetical order strikes again), but was good nevertheless. Later presentations had huge audiences and used some neat tricks (like passing cats around the audience - we should do that next time).
No Abys made it through to Best Of Variety this year, so the afternoon was pretty uneventful (code for dragged on a bit).
Having suffered from the announcements during the day, the vital "you can go home message" never came out up at our end of the hall, giving the Long-Haired types the drop on the dash out. Oh well, there''s always next year!
