Hey there! My name is Ash, and I have decided to start a blog about the history of my struggles with addiction. Believe it or not, I’m actually a doctor, and I prescribed the pills I was addicted to.

Yeah, I know that’s a little intense. I wasn’t always the smartest of guys even though I liked to think I was. I hope that by sharing my story you can learn a lot about, I guess, what not to do? Though you’re probably not a doctor.

Maybe you have an addiction or a loved one who suffers from addiction. Then my story is for you. We don’t have to relate to all levels or anything. I just want to tell my story and hope people understand or care about it in a way that changes them. I know it sure changed me.

First things first, I want to make it clear that you should NEVER do what I did. That also means you shouldn’t do recovery by yourself.

I’m a loner by nature, and that’s alright, but what I did was insanely stupid. I derailed my entire personal life, and I’m lucky I somehow kept my job. This is why I’m not going to give my full name. It’s not that I’m ashamed, but I would love to use my experiences to keep helping others.

You know, that probably is a little selfish. I’m not perfect, and I will never claim to be.

Prescription pills were my best friend and worst enemy for so many years. It’s weird being able to look in a mirror and actually like myself. You forget what it feels like to be a human being and not like you’re falling apart.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to get so deep here. We’ll get deeper into my story on my next post.
